Josh Jackson’s Fishing Diary - Common Carp Fishing at Carthagena Fishery, Broxbourne (Hertfordshire, East Anglia)

Captor’s Comments:

The sun was just hinting behind carthagena's famous gravel works and two baits were positioned on two nice silt areas out in front of the 2nd jetty. Having gone to sleep with fish bubbling over the areas i was confident of a bite when come 6:30am my right hand delkim screams into life having me rushing from my sleeping bag to make contact with my first cartha carp, with the fish stuck solid in the pads i walked slowly down the jetty hoping that a tight line from a different angle would get things going again when i felt a kick! it was out, and moving fast round to the left pulling line of as it pleased, it wasn't long before a old warrior of a common carp was engolfed in the bottom of my landing net. On the scales she went 24lb 5oz and after a few snaps from a good friend and a strong return i was left reminising with a cupper over my first special carthgena carp.

The fish came from a silty gully a couple of feet of the pads at around 25 - 30yards on a helicopter rig with a 2.5oz square dung bomb coupled with a 7inch 20lb esp strip teaze hooklink line aligner size 6 esp curv shanx with a 18mm Take dumbell with 10mm Nash white chocolate pop up completing the successfull snowman rig.
